What we do
Blue Forty works across the full arc of design and construction, from the first sketch to the finished space.
DISCIPLINES
Architecture
The core of the practice. We design custom residential and commercial projects with an emphasis on craft, materiality, and how a building is actually made and performs over time. Deep construction knowledge, permitting and project management expertise yield more efficient, higher quality results.
Interiors
Every space we design is considered from the inside out: materials, light, proportion, and detail treated as elements of the architecture, not afterthoughts.
Fabrication
We design and build custom objects, furniture, and architectural elements — things that couldn't be found in a catalog and wouldn't work any other way.
Industrial + Product Design
When a project calls for a designed object — a fixture, a component, a product — we bring the same thinking we apply to buildings: functional, considered, beautiful, and built to last.
How we work
Every project moves through three phases.
PROCESS
Discovery + Design
We start by understanding the design problem through research, conversation, site analysis, and exploration, developing concepts grounded in each project's specific conditions before committing to a direction.
Development
Concepts become designs become plans. We work through physical and digital modeling, coordination with engineers and consultants, and documentation rigorous enough to build from with confidence.
Construction
We stay close through the build. Deep construction fluency and hard-won expertise navigating permitting and approvals mean we can solve problems before they become delays and protect design intent when it matters most. Fewer surprises, better outcomes.

in their words
"Blue Forty always brings in out-of-the-box solutions to various building and design puzzles. Alex always values feedback and criticism as part of the process, and plays devil's advocate on design problems until a solid solution can be reached.
Interacting on design problems with Alex is always a highlight of my work week!"
