Blue Forty was approached by Duxbury McIntosh Architects to assist in the design and development of a remodel/addition to a 2,500 SF home located in Saratoga, California. The existing house, guest house, and carport are perched atop an oak forested hill. Simple, mid-century modern features are slated to be enhanced by the new design concept. The existing master suite gabled wing is further extruded to create space for a new laundry room and two additional bedrooms. At the end of the wing, with views of the San Francisco bay, the master bedroom and bathroom open up to a cantilever deck that creates a carport below.
On the other side of the house, a full kitchen/bathroom remodel gives the home a fresh feel and increases the functionality of the home. The landscape design, by Peter Murray, features cascading terraces that juxtapose the hard lines of the home design.
